Forum instability is back?

Just a few moments ago.

@dax1 @alranel @pert

And daily greets the groundhog.

Good night.

What the f.ck!

Guys, you justified the switch of the forum to Discourse with the fact that it will be much easier and much more intuitive and what not.

Since the beginning, there is constant tinkering and new problems arise.

If you want to scare away the active people, then just say who you don't want to have and that's it.

@pert How was that the other day with the GDPR? Has @Ballscrewbob not so wrong that you have a bigger problem and that everything is dismissed useless?
Where does it say in your privacy policy that profiling is done and (which?) IP addresses do not get access?

That was the first time today. I hope that it was the last time that AFTER(!) the login attempt such a message comes.

Hi @my_xy_projekt. I'm sorry you were unable to access the forum. If it happens again, please record the IP address that you tried to access the forum from and send me a direct message so I can investigate.

The forum software does allow blocking IP addresses. However, we have a policy against doing that except temporarily in extreme cases of abuse. The reason for that policy against blocking IP addresses is because it may cause legitimate users like you to be prevented from accessing the forum in the event you are unfortunate enough to have been assigned an IP address that was previously blocked.

Unfortunately it was recently discovered that some IP addresses had been permanently blocked inappropriately so some legitimate users might be unfairly prevented from accessing the forum. I haven't gotten around to cleaning up that mess yet, but I'll try to get to it soon. Until then, I can remove blocks on specific IP addresses if people report the problem to me.

Thanks for the answer.
But it does not solve the problem.
Perhaps the problem is not understood either.

Therefore again in all clarity:
I can read everything as a non logged in user.
I also get the login screen.
I can enter my data.

After the login data is processed, it is matched to the IP address of an unknown and uncontrolled(*) blacklist.

This is technically unnecessary and not in line with GDPR.

I strongly recommend and before you try anything else to find someone to explain what kind of problems you have.
Especially the term processor and what is attached to it seems to be not clear.
I'm just too old to explain it in a language other than my mother tongue.
From there, take this as well-intentioned advice before regulators are made aware of it.
And the Italians, unlike the soft-spoken Germans, are not squeamish.
here (Select Italian)

(*) That's how I read it when it's not clear which address ranges end up there, from whom and for what reason.

Oh dear here we go.

ONLY SPAMMERS were blocked !
There is ZERO basis for you using the word "Indiscriminate" which is a blatant falsehood on your part. And for an "employee" to state such calls into question that employee and thier suitability for the task.

Could you please in future stick to FACTS

Also made the request that IP blocking be removed from the deletion process.
Did also ask for proof that blocking those spammer IPs had been harmful but NONE was provided apart from an event that had a full explanation and had NOTHING to do with your spurious remarks here.

Reported flag dismissed Noted.

@alranel ?

I have flagged your post as inappropriate.
It is about this bit:

Apparently my flag was removed...(without any communication).

I still feel your post is inappropriate. And I will therefore flag it again.

I know you and @Ballscrewbob were in a bar fight yesterday. Things were not neat there.
And also not a good example for the community. Finally that was almost over (I am not sure about the 'winner', as I think you went into a loose/loose situation).

Anyway, then, in a completely different post, you start complaining about @Ballscrewbob with a vague but clear enough hint of who you are talking about. I think that is unfair. Fight your fight with @Ballscrewbob if that still needs to happen, but do not speak about him when he is not there.

Re-flagged here too.

Thanks Moderator for the change.
Shame it had to be flagged so much to get a decent and unbiased consideration.

This site is the only one that regularly takes down my Internet connection, and it started with the recent complaints about instabiility. Freaking painful. Having to reboot my admittedly Neanderthal router because I read a few topics on Arduino is not acceptable. I'll be taking a break from this forum for a few days, because though I can read topics on my phone, responding is just too painful.

The Discourse developers have made a change to how the forum's "sprites" are handled:

The Arduino Forum Discourse instance has been updated to the version of Discourse that contains that change.

Hopefully this change will fix the issues of graphics sometimes missing from the forum. Please let us know if you still experience that problem.

Thanks for the report.

Well, nothing's changed at this end. Must have rebooted our router a half dozen times yesterday, each during/at the end of some time on this site. Today, due to conflicting demands, I've been on the web, but away from this site. Not a reboot all day. I'm expecting to have to reboot sometime in the next hour, if I stick around here. I know, @pert , it's probably nothing you can do anything about, but it certainly is frustrating, knowing that there's only one site I need to avoid all day - this one.

Do you still have the problem in reply #2 and others?

Have the last time no longer actively paid attention to it. I'll watch it and should be the days what, I'll report.

I get it with Firefox on my PC, I don't get it with Firefox on my tablet or Chrome on my phone.
