hello everyone, I am in need of urgently help, I am trying to connect my hbs57h driver to protunner, however I think my cable is not correctly wired, I am using a rj12 to r232 and then r232 to usb emulator, I saw a discussion with knightridar and pylon but its locked now. what I can't seem to understand is which pin on the r232 is for 5v??? and pylon talks about aurt being bridged???? please can someone help.
- Can you please provide links to the products that you mention that most of us will not be familiar with; e.g. hbs57h driver and protunner?
- Can you post a link to the discussion that you found?
- Is there anywhere an Arduino involved? You don't mention any; if yes, which one?
- Can you provide a wiring diagram of your intended wiring?
RS232 does not carry 5V; only control signals and GND. And those control signals can damage the Arduino as they are not 5V TTL signals.
hey sterretje, thank you for taking the time to help me, ok so for some background info.
the hbs57h is a stepper driver for nema 23 motor for my diy cnc machine.
no Arduino is being used at the moment.
protuner software
hbs57h driver
rs232 to usb cable
rj12 to rs232 cable
this one is the one I am not sure is correct
I can't provide a wiring diagram because I don't know what the intended diagram should be.
any help will really be great.
will post the link for the discussion next can only do 4 at a time.

Thanks for all that.
I do not know what STU means in the user manual. So the first thing I would do is determine if the 5V in the communication port is an input or an output. If it's an output, you don't connect it to anything; if it's an input, you will need to wire a 5V and a GND to the RJ12.
I can't say for sure but I think that I would apply power to all power pins except for the 5V of the comms port and measure the 5V on the comms port.
For others that might want to assist, this is the link to the user manual from the other topic so it's easier to find: https://forum.arduino.cc/uploads/short-url/fqLnCW6rMa0eRCDOtTfIWfppvvf.pdf.
