By first confirming it really is a BLE device. If it is, it is in AT mode by default, which means all that talk about buttons and pin 34 amounts to naught, and the baud rate for configuration is 9600.

I can't be sure it is a BLE device, but I have never heard of an HC-05 with a six-digit password. Further, I have never seen an HC-05 that looks exactly like that one, but that doesn't necessarily mean it isn't one.

There are a lot of dud and fake HC-05s around. BLE config codes are similar to those for HC-05. Martyn Currey has stuff on this with specific reference to the HM-10. This has a reduced instruction set but I believe it can connect to other Blueteeth.

It would be simple to use it as a server with a phone app like Serial Bluetooth Terminal which has a BLE mode.

What is the end goal of your project? Can these units be returned for genuine HC05's?

Its not HM-10 , nor does it respond to those cmds.

Until you find out what it is that you have, most of this discussion is a waste of time.

To avoid this sort of difficulty, buy from reputable suppliers that support their products.

Just for fun I looked at the aliexpress page and saw this customer comment:

These modules do not respond to most of the AT commands a HC05 should respond to so I checked AT+VERSION? which does work and gives the result "+VERSION:hc05V2.3_le OK" and it is the 'le' that is the problem I think. The firmware is for a low energy bluetooth device, not a HC05. I have tried LE devices before and they are just not appropriate where you want a non le device. So, be warned, these are NOT HC05! Even if they are not LE, the standard HC05 programmng does not work. I have 2 useless devices and they are too small to be a paper weight :(

Ironic, chat says 'you can type "Chat Now" at bottom line'
