First I think you are using the wrong words.
The word TSOP can mean a sort of package that chips come in.
It is also a slang word for an IR demodulator and code converter.
It is slang because it is only part of the name of a specific chip.
Like the TSOP1730, TSOP1736, TSOP1738 and TSOP1756. The last two letters are the modulation frequency in KHz.
There are many other groups of this chip like the TSOP21xx, where the xx again decides the modulation frequency.
Yes you can have more than one of these but it is not easy to read more than one at once without quite fancy software.
