Identifying chipset on Uno

I have some code for an Uno that requires me to specify chipset (atmega32u4, atmega16u2, atmega32u2, Uno_at90usb82, Uno_at90usb162, Uno_atmega8u2) but I don't think I have a magnifier powerful enough to read the chip. Do I have any other way to get the info?

Take a picture of the Arduino.

Use a cell phone? Although below images are for a clone Nano, you can identify the chips; not sure if they were taken in macro mode or not. You might have to adjust the angle (as seen in the second image) and take them in daylight without flash.


I just cannot for my life get the camera to focus on the chipset. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, or maybe my smartphone sucks.

Ok, can you read marks on the chip yourself? If so - repost it to the forum as text

That's what I'm saying, it's too small to read unaided and my magnifier won't focus on it either. Isn't there some software way to probe it?

Go to Preferences and switch on detailed output for compliling and upload.
Then upload code again and copy to the forum whole output as text.

sorry, it just occurred to me - what kind of chipset do you need? Main controller or usb-interface?
atmega328 - your main controller, but for USB-interface you should read the marks on the other chip - rectangular 20 pins to the right of the main one in your photos.

I'm with you. Have to use a big magnifier to read chips and resistors. Middle-age is killer for the psyche.

I have several of those boards. They use the ATMEGA328P chip as you've found out. Mine use the CH340G USB-Serial chip for serial comms to the PC.
