Looking for help with a new project

Hello Forum!

I made this account today to ask about a project I'm trying to get started on. I have included a link to the git hub below. In the read me it shows the layout of the circuit which includes the arduino uno linked to something called the "tx". When looking at the pictures that follow, it shows several boards that I'm hoping you guys can identify for me. I currently own a small cnc machine and a plotter that I have used for years. However, I have never built a machine and hoping you guys can help direct me. What's killing me is how the site that linked to the directions (cncgoodenough) talks about how easy this setup is supposed to be. Other then the electronics aspect, the rest of the project is straight forward and a parts list is provided. But for electronics is just lists the stepper drivers, arduino, and "ToslinkCNC 4-axis kit".

Here is even a video which I have watched a few times but cant seem to put together all necessary parts needed.

Any help you can provide is much appreciated.

Is there a particular reason that you chose that setup? The reason that I ask is that there are easier setups out there. I use an Uno, CNC shield and the Grbl firmware on a couple of my setups (XY plotter, 2.5D router).

How many axes do you need? Which steppers are you using? Are you sending G code to the machine?
