Ordering from AliExpress - Chinese New Year

I was looking to order some new parts, but it seems that the Chinese New Year is either happening or imminent.

Would ordering from AliExpress be a bad idea at this moment?

Avoid, like a plague, from ordering at this time of year, wait till March.

If you order now, things are likely to get lost.

Bummer. I guess I should have ordered earlier.

Any recommendations for delivery to UK?

In the colonies here (Canada) maybe others can recommend.

I ordered from multiple Chinese stores, at this time of year, a few years back.

Two orders got lost four orders arrived at the end of March.

Seems like holiday time there is a hit and miss proposition.

Would love to visit Canada one of the years, not sure which area though. Log cabin, snow, somewhere scenic.
Any recommendations?

Regarding ordering, I think I'll just order off eBay for now.

Banff Alberta is a great place to visit.

Make a note to self for following orders:

For China, order from March to December

Wow, I am sold  Thanks

Yep seems I am the last to find out about Chinese New Year lol

btw I never had problems with Ali express, sometimes it got some delays but I have always received the order and I am a regular embedded buyer.

@jackthom41 good to know!

If I need dirt cheap components I’m mostly buying through eBay from China.
How soon you get your item depends on the seller.
To provide some guarantees I buy same item from two or three different sellers. Some might not work or never arrive, most of the time they do, so I have spares. This strategy works good for low cost items, because of high markups from US sellers
For more expensive stuff, markup is not that bad, so I buy from US and know I can ship it back at sellers expense if not as described.
