Port COM3 in Arduino IDE still available even tough I didn't connect it to the board

Initially, when I plugged in the USB cable to my laptop, there was a sound and it showed in the device manager, but then it has suddenly gone in just a second. After that, I tried to plug it in again, but it didn't show up, and there was no sound. weirdly, in my Arduino IDE, the COM3 port is always available. Does anybody know what the problem is??

Where? Under tools -> ports? Or at the right bottom? Or both?

If you're using IDE 1.8.x, the right bottom shows the port that you selected last, it does not show an available port.

So, where do you see it? And which version of the IDE are you using.

it's both, and im using 1.8.19

OK, COM3 is clearly not your Arduino. In your topic Arduino Uno R3 not detected in device manager, you mention that there is no sound which would confirm it. Please analyse the writing on the chip closest to the USB port; it's difficult to read so you need good light and a magnifying glass (or use your (phone) camera, preferably in macro mode if it has one).
What does it read?

Is there anything with yellow triangles in windows device manager? You did not post the complete user interface of device manager so I can't check. There should be a Universal Serial Bus controllers section; that is the case in Win 10. It looks like you're using Win 11 so I'm not sure if that still applies.

Also check entries under modems and network adapters, something could be related to COM3. You will have to dig, even through other possible entries in Windows device manager.
