Power supply alteration

Hi guys,
I got this old power supply in a box of bits.
It states 14v 2.5amp output (35watts)

I have a 12v addressable rgb strip I wish to power on a breadboard and an arduino nano which is also on the breadboard.

I think I need to have some kind of power control from this supply to drop to 12v for the strip and 5v for the duino?

ANyone advise on components to make somit for this please..

Yeh. Chucked on a multimeter and worked in the printer. I just accident my dropped the printer lol.

Add a (5V) buck converter rated for sufficient current to power the addressable LED strips (assuming they are 5V strips).

You can power the Arduino directly from the 12V of the power supply.

@fireblader4 use a DC-DC step down converter to turn 14V into 12V for the strip. The Arduino can run off of the 12V using its on board regulator as long as you don't power anything else off of its 5V rail, or use a second step down converter to make 5V for the Arduino.

Then buy a 2.5A or more, 12V output buck converter but be sure it will work with an input of a little less than 14V, like 13.5V.
You can power the LEDs and the nano with the 12V provided you do not have any high current devices connected to the nano 5V output pin

So. Could i power this Nano

With that power supply? Vin pin can take 12v so it says.. i could then split wire and run to the 12v pinn of rgb strip?

Should work. Don't power anything else off of the Nano's 5V or 3.3V pins.
