Pressure sensitive button like Playstation controller

Can anyone advise if it possible to buy a generic pressure sensitive button, like you find in many devices such as the Playstation controller.

These react to the amount of pressure the user applies.

Also what is their proper name? I've struggled to find them on the internet... :frowning: conductive switch, resistive switch, ... something else switch???

Thank you

Try a search for "force sensing resistor".

Possibly, but I was surprised at the cost. Calculators, phones, game controllers... so many of them they have just got to cheaper surely $)

I looked around some and can't find them either. Maybe custom made for the individual device. Might not be real hard to fabricate with a bit of PC board material and conductive foam that ICs come in.

I'm contemplating hacking a calculator, tv control or similar...

The local thrift store (like Goodwill) has a basket of orphan remotes. I got 2 for $1. Don't know if you have the same kind of stores in UK but I get a lot of stuff there. USB cables $.50, and little LCD monitor for $3.

A little LCD monitor for $3... wow :open_mouth:

It was the display from a in car DVD player. About 6" diagonal.

Interesting, do you think they pressure sensitive, that is "more force = more current/voltage, less resistance"? I can't tell fro the product specs. Could simply be on/off may be?
