im really into building things with arduino. I need recommended projects to build since most things that look cool and are easy usually dont work. does anybody have recommendations of cool thing I could build that would be pefect for a thirteen year old? i own the elegoo sensor kit and th arduino starter kit and some other parts.
You're the only one who knows what seems cool to you. If you've tried some cool things but they don't work why not pick the coolest of them and post details of it here together with the problems you're having? Then we can maybe help you to get it working.
There's no real point trying a project and if it doesn't immediately work giving up and moving on to something else. You need a bit more persistence than that to make anything worthwhile.

thanks so much! i dont have enough programming knowledge to fix it myself
In Oct. of 2018, I gave a person, I know, a Arduino Uno. Which he gave to his son. After 3 months the fellows son wanted more, so I gave them 2 STM32 Bluepills. The kid is making money, now, making flexible eReader type name tags.
Get started from a very easy project, to accumulate your experience.
For example: Make a Door Alarm with Magnetic Hall Sensor Module - Rmigo
Try getting started with chip (74HC595) its a shift register device. I suggest this particular device to learn Arduino, because it is very well documented in this forum and in other forums as well. Try learning how to turn on and off LED's in sequence, turn on LED's in pairs, etc.
The wiring daigrams are very simple and there are a tonne of examples of code and wiring diagrams available on the web.
