QT PY ESP32-C3 inconsistent wifi issues

Hi there,

I recently purchased a QT PY ESP32-C3 for use with an LIS3DH accelerometer to transmit the sensor data via Wifi to Max/MSP. I initially bought one and after a bit of work I was able to get it to work as expected. I then purchased two more, and neither is able to connect to the Wifi. The WifiScan code works perfectly and it finds the SSID, but cannot connect. As you can see in the provided picture, the working one and the two that don't work are slightly different (as far as I can tell the only difference is slightly different RESET and BOOT buttons), but I have no idea why one should be working and the others not. I am wondering if they are different versions of the same board, and therefore I need to do something different with ESPTool, but I'm not sure how to find that out.
