Hi Everyone,
I only recently discovered the world of Arduino from the ADAFruit website. I'm seeking a programmer to assist with a MIDI centrc project. Not sure where it goes from here, but looking forward to connecting to talent that can assist.
Chris
Hi @pladaaad. Are you offering to pay someone to do this work for you?
The reason I ask is because there is a "Jobs and Paid Consultancy" forum category specifically for offering paid work. If you are offering payment then I would move your topic there to ensure the people who are interested in such opportunities will see it.
The category you have posted in would generally be used to request free assistance in accomplishing your project. The helpers in this category are happy to help you learn, but not often interested in doing your project for you.
I am. Thanks for that! Moving the thread.
OK, I have moved the topic to the optimal category. Best wishes for success in your project!
Carry on.
That was freaky, thanks!
What is your budget in terms of $ and in terms of effort hrs and elapsed hrs?
You have to tell us what you want done, at least in sufficient detail so we can decide if it’s a small, medium or large project or something we don’t want to touch with a 10-foot pole.
Don’t focus on the how it should be done. e.g., what Arduino you bought or what shields and accessories you think will be good to use (unless you have very clear reasons for making those choices).
Try to explain only what you want done. Then interested party(ies) can offer solutions and you can decide how it looks.
Frankly, unknown at this time. Looking to build a flying fader kit for an analog console. This entails capturing MIDI or SMPTE from a recorder which will feed voltage controllers for faders. The kit will require record/recall functionality, so a CPU will be needed. That's the satellite view.
I'd upload a flowchart but this forum won't let me, being a new user.
Given those parameters, a professional will be very expensive. Try to find a hobbyist with relevant experience. He/she can likely be convinced to work for the experience plus a reasonable fee.
FYI I have a 3 month minimum, 1 month in escrow. Standard 40hr work week.
Speaking for yourself.
Not sure what that’s intended to convey - surprise? Disappointment? The reality is, any one on this forum who would take a job like this on will have a similar approach. Most of us are here to help others in their projects for the joy of it; as such, we are free to come and go, sometimes capriciously. If we were to engage seriously, as your project would likely require, we would have performance expectations, just as you likely would. Negotiation would ensue. Is that somehow unreasonable? I don’t think so.
If you’re extremely lucky, there’s someone here with the experience you require, and who also sees a personal ‘turf’ in the project, and will therefore participate for lesser, or no, remuneration. But I’d be surprised if that were to occur.
Good luck!
Read 10 posts in 10 topics over 10 minutes and upload privs will be granted. (Actually, the requirement is less, but I cant remember it).
Just drag and drop should work.
Good for you. We all now know you are a professional programmer. Not sure the commentary is worthy of your time.
I know how the world works. Thanks.
Still wouldn't let me. Apparently I have a lot of reading to do first. ![]()
Not a lot. Just 10 posts over 10 topics for 10 minutes.
Simply start with a system block diagram to identify the physical and logical interfaces.
I can assist you with this.
I do pro bono sometimes, or coffee money.
Let’s chat off forum and see what you requirements are.
Pity, you’re misreading, with a bonus ‘chip on your shoulder’ apparently. I’m no pro. However, your ‘tude is there for all to see, which is helpful to others. I’m out.
