Hello guys, just want to ask for help, I have a Wantai stepper motor 42BYGHW815-X, and a L298N stepper motor driver, the stepped motor have 6 pins, and the driver have 4 only (OUT1, OUT2, OUT3, OUT4). How can I drive the motor?
Ps. I know how to code, just don't know the coils manipulation in stepper motor
To be sure it would help if You post a link to the stepper datasheet.
You most likely have two center-tapped coils. You'll need to get a DVM and measure the resistance between all the wires. The pairs with the highest resistances are the ones you connect to the H-Bridge. Clip the ends off the the other two so they don't short circuit against something.
The 42BYGHW815-X seems to be a 1.5Amp (3.8volt) motor.
The L298 is a dinosaur brushed DC motor driver. It is the wrong choice for this motor.
You will burn out the driver or the motor with this combination.
A DRV8825 could work for this motor, with a 12volt (minimum) 2.5Amp (minimum) supply.
