What can a diy capacitance touch sensor detect?

I am trying to find out which sensor can detect small objects that don't have a high capacitance. I built a simple circuit that uses a 330 Ω resistor and an LED. The light turns on when I touch the analog wire, but if I place any small object on it, it does not turn on.

  • Your LED is not wired properly, you will damage your Arduino.

  • Wire as D2.

You need to define these objects, and what they are made of. Without that information you cannot get an accurate answer.

I believe its made out of platinum

Is that what you are sensing? What size ie. define them.

Yes, it's a small size platinum piece that's < 3mm

Is this some type of security thing? Without more information about your secret device there is not much more I can offer.

That is because you need two wires to measure capacitance.

Where can I add the second wire

  • When a large object comes to the sensor wire, the object is detected.

  • The operative word is large.

To GND
