What exact motor and power source do i need to purchase?

I am wanting to gift the hardware required for project Controlling a DC Motor with Motor Shield Rev3. Unfortunately, I know next to nothing about Arduino.

Under Hardware & Software Needed, it says I'll need an Arduino UNO (got it) and Arduino Motor Shield Rev3 (got it). It also says that I will need a DC motor (6-12V) and a Power source.

Could someone provide links to the specific DC motor and Power Source I need to buy. I'd buying all this in US.

Thanks!

One example:

@LarryD Thank you. The tutorial states that 2 batteries should be used. Should I buy a holder for 2 batteries (like this) or the 8 battery holder you linked to will be fine?

8 AA alkaline batteries.

8 X 1.5V = 12 Volts

This matches the 12V motor linked above.

One 8 AA battery holder is all that’s needed for this motor.

Edit

You could use 6 AA = 9v with these motors; they will just turn slower.
