What logic levels are Tx annd Rx pins on lcd displays?

I am trying to connect the Tx and Rx pins on a 5v lcd powered separately from my ESP32 board to my ESP32 board. The board is 3.3V. Is making this connection safe?

Use logic level converters between 5v peripherals and 3v3 controllers.
