When uploading over the network. Uploading progress Window does not go away. The OTA works as expected, but the IDE does not detect that it completed. The uploading... dialog does not go away and the upload toolbar button does not become enabled again.
Hi @johnhmccauley. Thanks for your report. I experienced this same issue only yesterday. Unfortunately, while I was in the middle of my investigation the issue stopped occurring and I have not been able to reproduce it a single time since then, despite my best efforts.
Which Arduino board are you uploading to?
Does the issue occur every time you attempt an upload, or only intermittently?
Does the issue still occur if you use the latest nightly build? The nightly build download links are listed here:
I am uploading to a ESP32. Board ESP32 Dev Module. Happens every time.
Running on a mac.
Also I noticed the upload menu item does not become disabled, just does nothing. Another issue.
Will need to try latest.

Thanks for checking! I am unable to reproduce the problem using my ESP32 board. The OTA uploads work just fine for me and the IDE UI reflects the the process completion.
The board I experienced it with was the MKR1000, but I didn't try the ESP32 at that time so it might have affected that board as well.
I reported the issue to the Arduino IDE 2.x development team and I believe one of them was able to reproduce the issue so that might enable us to progress with the investigation.
I didn't submit a formal bug report to the issue tracker because of the fact that I could no longer reproduce the bug, but you are welcome to do so here:
