WinXP Driver installation problems

Trying to install the drivers for my Uno for the first time on my WinXP SP3.

While following the tutorial I ran into a bit of a snag.
My Device Manager does not list any COM ports associated with my Arduino UNO.
Instead of being listed under Ports(COM & LPT) it's listed under Other Devices.
Ignoring this I proceeded to with the rest of the tutorial and the Install wizard could not find the drivers to install.
C:\arduino-0022\drivers\FTDI USB Drivers
Nothing

After spending hours searching the forums and the rest of the internet I couldn't find anything that helped.

I've gone to FTDIs website and nothing i could find helped me.

Any help would be very much appreciated

The UNO does not need/use anything related to FTDI drivers/chips.

Finally, navigate to and select the Uno's driver file, named "ArduinoUNO.inf", located in the "Drivers" folder of the Arduino Software download (not the "FTDI USB Drivers" sub-directory).

Getting started with Arduino...
