Hello, I am having this problem where I have downloaded the creative agent thing and moved it into applications, but when I double click or press open, nothing happens. It shows the launching animation, but nothing else. I tried restarting my computer and that did nothing. I also reinstalled this 2 times. I am currently running Monterey 12.6.5. Any and all help is appreciated.
Can you please supply a link to this thing?
Hi @dronemaster278. Arduino Create Agent runs in the background and helps Arduino Cloud to communicate with your Arduino board for uploading sketches and Serial Monitor via the serial port. So when you start it, you won't see an application window open. The only expected result of starting Arduino Create Agent is the appearance of an Arduino logo icon near the right side of the macOS menu bar at the top of your screen:
Do you see that icon appear after you start Arduino Create Agent? If so, all is well and you can carry on using Arduino Cloud.
I'm new to Arduino. Same problem with the plug in. DMG says to drag to Applications folder. Did that. It is open(Black) in the MacOS menu. But the GetStarted can't see it.
Hi @ClickClick. I see the instructions on the Arduino Create Agent installation are missing the important step of launching the Arduino Create Agent application after you install it.
Please try this:
-
Open macOS "Launchpad".
-
Find the application named "ArduinoCreateAgent" in the Launchpad. Click on it.
-
The first time you start the Arduino Create Agent, a dialog will appear:
“ArduinoCreateAgent.app” is an app downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?
Click the "Open" button in that dialog.
-
Switch back to the browser window where you have Arduino Cloud open. If you still have that "INSTALL THE CREATE AGENT FOR MACOS" window open, you can click the "TRY AGAIN" button.
After that, Arduino Create Agent should be detected by Arduino Cloud and you should then have full usage of all the Arduino Cloud features.
Please let me know if you have any questions or problems while following those instructions.
Using Chrome solved the problem. Do not use Safari. Thanks
This is not a solution. And I'm not going to use Google Chrome. You should fix it that Agent can work with Safari.
The problem with Safari has not yet been solved.
Thank you all for your help. I ended up purchasing a windows laptop, as i needed it for other work and i just use my new computer for coding. Thank you!
Same Mac Problem - I went to top right icon as mentioned and allowed HTTPS - fixed and happy not to be using chrome
I did that and it doesn't appear in the MacOS menu. I'm using MacOS Sonoma.
I had the same problem, as mentioned earlier in the thread, the problem is Safari not the agent. I use MS Edge without a problem. I do wish the Safari issue could be resolved.
It seems that we might be discussing two completely different problems here.
The first report was about "nothing happens" after starting Arduino Create Agent:
The expected visible effect of starting Arduino Create Agent is that an Arduino logo icon will appear on the macOS "menu bar". The other effect is that Arduino Cloud will then recognize that Arduino Create Agent is running and also be able to recognize the Arduino boards you have connected to your computer.
I didn't ever receive an answer to my question about whether the icon was present in the menu bar or not, so I have no understanding of the exact nature of that problem.
I did see another topic where users are reporting the problem of the icon not appearing after launching:
The second report was about Arduino Create Agent launching as expected (as indicated by the black icon in the menu bar, but that Arduino Cloud did not recognize Arduino Create Agent:
This problem is caused by certain security restrictions of the browser (this is why people are experiencing it on Safari but not Chrome browser) blocking the communication between Arduino Cloud and Arduino Create Agent.
There is a simple solution to this problem. @geoffhall777 was already kind enough to share it with us, but in case it will be useful I'll provide more detailed instructions that the affected users can follow:
Generate and Install HTTPS certificates
- Control-click on the Arduino Create Agent icon on the macOS "menu bar".
A menu will open. - Select Generate and Install HTTPS certificates from the menu.
A "You are making changes to your Certificate Trust Settings" dialog will open. - Enter your macOS user password in the "You are making changes to your Certificate Trust Settings" dialog.
- Click the "Update Settings" button.
After doing that, you should find that Arduino Cloud is able recognize that Arduino Create Agent is running and recognizes the Arduino boards you have connected to your computer, even when using the Safari browser.
Please let me know if you have any questions or problems while following those instructions.
