Arduino Laser Tag - questions for other electronics

I have posted before and working on an arduino based laser tag game. I shorted out my first board and so ive been at a standstill for some time. I'm just about to start to get back underway but had some questions regarding other electronic parts I plan on using. For starters i am using a Nerf Recon as a gun shell. The majority of the internals have been removed.
(example, not my gun)

I am using a 9.6v battery located in the clip for easy exchange.

I have the following questions

  1. I am going to be mounting a small speaker inside the gun. is there any correct way for mounting the speaker to the inside plastic of the gun? Hot glue? Epoxy? Do I need some kind of stand off?

  2. I plan on using 1 or 2 small vibration motors for a force feedback effect. How would I mount the vibration motor to the inside plastic of the gun permanently? I was planing on using a small ammount of plumbers epoxy putty but If there is a better solution i would much rather do it the right way rather then just any way.

  3. I would like to use these possibly outdoors. Is there any kind of special treatment I can use on an arduino board to prevent water damage or like mud or dirt effecting it?

Thanks

Hi, I'm interested in doing an arduino laser tag game as well. Here are some thoughts on your questions:

Mounting Speaker: Generally, I like to mount speakers with a rubber or neoprene (old, free mousepads are great) standoff. In this case since I assume you won't be going for super high, vibration free audio quality, that may not be necessary. Whether hot glue or epoxy will work will depend entirely on the speaker and where you put the glue  I imagine hot glue would be good though since it is strong but easily removable.

Vibration motors: Why do you want it to be permanent? I'm always paranoid about a part breaking and needing to be replaced.

Weather proofing: I have heard of people coating electronics with latex although I haven't seen anyone coat a whole arduino like that.

Can you post some details about your project? I would be interested in exchanging ideas.
