I use macOs Catalina, 10.15.6 and the Arduino software downloaded on the official website. When I try to select the serial port, I do not find any (see screenshot attached).
It seems to be a known problem, so I installed ch34 driver and I wrote "sudo nvram boot-args="kext-dev-mode=1" in my shell. When I do that, I receive : "nvram: Error setting variable - 'boot-args': (iokit/common) not permitted"
I read that since el captain Mac version, this command does not work.Do you have any idea for me ?
I have the same issue. I read that ide ver 1.8.10 would work, but after installing and rebooting I still have the issue. I also read that the Arduino Pro IDE would work, but what that shoes me is if i reset a board the port shows briefly then disappears.
The IDE and ports worked on this Mac previously. I had not done any Arduino work for some time but purchased a new board for a project with my daughter. Updated the IDE to the current version but still no ports showing up.
Tried a couple of the older Arduino cards that had previously worked on this Mac but now they don't show up either. Only change to the Mac was the "upgrade" to Catalina. Now running 10.15.6.
Have any of you tried the SEARCH on the upper right ? (the small magnifying glass)
Catalina has come up a lot and I know there are multiple answers for it.
