Hello,
I need an IRF840 mosfet shield and it looks like Digispark is gone. Does and body have a trace route or board image I could send out for board creation?
TIA
Hi @giantkiller. Fortunately the Internet Archive Wayback Machine saves the day once again! You can still download the CAD files for the "Digishield MOSFET" from the archive of the Digistump website:
Thank you very much!
You are welcome. I'm glad if I was able to be of assistance.
Regards, Per
I assume you know that an IRF840 is not a logic level fet, and shouldn't or can't be used with a microprocessor without a gate driver in between.
Leo..
Yes sir. I am pulsing a motor feed of 1/2 amp. I have done this before but built the fetter protoboard that time. I want to scale up the build with finished additions.
Thank you for your effort.
So I had to go to EasyEDA but the online professional selection doesnt import Eaglecad but the standard version does so after an hour I am looking at the board image that is ready to move forward in the process for creation.
Still don't understand why you picked a 500volt mosfet with a high Rds(on).
Leo..
A simple purchase and I can drive most anything. I also have projects that incorporate Stunguns so it can handle the surges.
Don't forget that this non-logic high-voltage fet needs 10volt at the gate.
That makes driving it with a 5volt Arduino pin more difficult and direct drive with a 3.3volt pin impossible. And the high Rds(on) generates more switching losses (heat). Switching more than 1Amp will need additional cooling.
Good luck.
Leo..
Many PCB fabricators can use the eagle files directly. No need to do a translation with the possibility of errors.
Thanks all for the input. I ordered 10 for 0.50 cents each. I need to test a populated one at the moment for this next project.
