When traveling I visit the forum using my phone, else my PC. Two weeks ago, forum pages were quick and completed without problems. Now, most pages/topics update but leave a 3/4 progress bar, and my new posts don't appear until my next visit(sometimes, not even then, if no one else has posted to the thread); edit is also disabled when this happens. Was there a forum update that might be the root of this? We did do an Android update last week, so that could also be it, I suppose.
edit - works fine if I hotspot with the phone, using my PC. Makes sense.
Firefox on Samsung Android. Versions, etc. on request.
Been noticing that too..
On my slow win10 box..
Seems like sometimes, it just keeps spinning..
I click on stop and things load up..
Easy to reproduce, open a post in a new tab, the new tab will never finish loading..
But now that you mention it, I think there was some work done, so maybe it's time to clear the cache again..
It's not just here..
The esp32 forum has been throwing sql errors..
The espressif github for the Arduino esp32 core, seems a bit messed up since they released on Wednesday, looks like the dev release got tossed..
I'm thinking the whole internet is a bit mucked up right now..
Chrome on the PC, but then again, OS is different too, so IDK. Doesn't really matter, hotspotting solves it, but I'd rather not have to lug my pc, or this one(better half's), when we're traveling, so I thought I'd ask. Working the forum on phone is difficult enough without these issues, so I'll probably just go away until we return home.
You know, not sure..
Yes, using firefox, but not that thing on the left..
Got my browser zoomed 150%, bigger text for me old eyes..
was noticing avatars not loading, today seems better..
but still open in a new tab, the new tab will spin..
haven't cleared my cache yet..
just check, using some mem too..
Yeah, when the page update leaves the 3/4 progress bar indication, my avatar is also a three-letter textual "prc", instead of the normal image. So there's something funky going on with the avatar lookup, possibly related.
Possibly the message "waiting for dub1.discourse-cdn.com ..." at the bottom of the firefox tab.
Clearing the cache (and refreshing the page after that) will help for a short while but the problem usually comes back within a few hours.
I don't think that you can see it when using a browser on a phone but there will be plenty of user icons missing all over the show when it goes wrong; your avatar on the right top might still show.
yep, and i think that's what it's sticks on sometimes without opening in a new tab too..
doesn't really bother me, very busy site, runs pretty darn good, wouldn't want to admin it..

message "waiting... "
no.
regarding your second quote on mine,
my avatar appears if I do, for example, look at my posts. So it's not totally inaccessible. But, looking at "latest posts" for example, all avatars on the left side are visible, but mine (top right of page) isn't.
regarding your third quote, of mine, yes, it's apparent now that the word is "pro", with the last few pixel columns of the 'o' cut off.
Anyway, no big deal there. Don't really care about the avatars, but the failure of the page, leaving me with no indication my post went through, and then later, no ability to edit my post, is ... irritating.
But not the end of the world, I'll just cease posting when viewing the forum using my phone. If I want to participate, I'll hotspot if I have a computer available, and not bother if not.
Thanks.
This problem has been ongoing for several weeks. To me the most irritating effect is that new posts will not show up in a topic until I either refresh the page, click "stop loading the page" in Firefox, or make a post myself. Makes me look a bit stupid when I post a reply, only to see someone else already posted the same information and the discussion has progressed two or three posts while I was typing.
I get caught too. Before you post, hit ESCape to stop the page from waiting to load the full page. Same thing after you post... hit ESC to see your new post.
Months.
Two years ago, the same "upgrade" occurred (arduino.cc or discord) and took months to resolve.
There is an ongoing private discussion about the problem @sterretje linked to in reply #3, I have no idea if I ever invited you to that discussion, but if you want to join it I can invite you. I warn you that it has passed 100 replies. One thing that seems to be certain is that it only affects Firefox.
Something else that I've had problems with recently.
On an older android phone (Samsung Galaxy J3 Luna Pro running Android 6.0.1), using Google Chrome browser, when I am viewing the forum, close the browser, then some time later open it back up, I get the error "Your connection is not private" NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID
