Help with testing an ESP8266 binary

Hi!

I have compiled a binary for nodeMCU, but I need someone who has an alexa to test it. Its suppose to be a smart light bulb so alexa should discover it, switch it off and on.

Steps:
Flash binary using https://esp.huhn.me/
On your mobile connect to NodeMCU-Setup wifi
Setup WiFi credentials for your home wifi
Discover the device with alexa and see if it can switch it on/off.
Pin that changes is D2 so there might not be anything on it.

If you can't share the sketch, what guarantees that there isn't something inappropriate in the Bin?
I wouldn't do a test without knowing what I would be loading.

There is nothing dangerous about it. Binaries on the web are used all the time for various things including WiFi repeaters with the ESP8266 and the sketch is always missing.

It becomes too much of a hassle to get an Alexa and TV. Its a simple smart plug that I need testing, so far I think the project will work, but there is no way to be sure without testing.

I don't agree. I can not share the sketch, but if there is anything I can do for someone to just check if the device is discoverable and does alexa switch it on/off it would be great.

Yes you can. Viruses are shared all the time under the guise of something else, like an Alexa widget.

Try...

If I weren't so lazy, I would buy a stand-alone Alexa system and pass the cost on to you, just for one test... pass or fail.
