How to become an admin/moderator?

I found the "About" page and now I have a question: how to become an admin or moderator of the forum? I also noticed that German, for example, doesn't have a moderator. Is none needed here, or how is that selected? Is that also because of the awards?
Thanks very much,

Hi @cloudDev. We don't have any open moderator positions available at this time. I'll make a note of your interest and contact you if a position opens at some point in the future.

I think the category-specific moderator roles were an artifact of the old forum framework in use before 2021. Although the Discourse forum framework currently in use does allow granting some maintainer permissions at per-category granularity, moderators have a global scope.

Those with fluency in a given language are best able to moderate posts in that language so there is some specialization based purely on each moderator's language skills. UweFederer is our hero of the Deutsch category.

They told me they didn't need more moderators currently and would contact me if they did.

In fact, German is also my main language. I always post in English because I can reach more people that way.
Thank you for putting me on the waiting list!

@pert just wrote that too.

Yep, he was still typing but clicked send before by post was finished.

Of course it can also happen that way.

If it happens faster enough I generally get rid of my comment.

Thanks for your interest in assisting with the maintenance of our forum!

There are a lot of opportunities for everyone in the community to help, regardless of whether they have a specific role. Flagging malicious posts (e.g., spam) is a very valuable contribution:

Some additional opportunities become available as the forum software upgrades your account to higher "trust level"s based on your forum activity:

I look forward to being upgraded again!

But I also have one concern for the Coypright:

I try flagging but don't like to annoy mods.

100 days won't be a problem, but getting likes will be only got 9.

Thanks though @pert and @cloudDev. :hugs:

Always my pleasure!

High quality flags are always welcome. It actually helps us to do our job because we very much don't want any spam to slip through the cracks but we can't be everywhere watching everything. With the eyes of the entire community looking out for malicious posts, we can make sure to clean it all up.

Something you can do to make our job more easy: in cases where none of the options for standard reasons for flagging listed on the flag creation menu are appropriate and so you select the "Something Else" option, please take the time to write a clear explanation of the cause of the flag including links to any other relevant posts. This allows us to get straight to the moderation work instead of having to spend time trying to understand what the flag was about.

But I've also had bad experiences. But maybe it was my fault.

RE: Incorrect product shown - #3 by LarryD

Inappropriate
Going to need a bit more than that to decide on an action.

You could just choose that. There is a spam image and text that simply doesn't answer or relate to the question.

Obviously, LarryD's post was intended for the original poster.
This is only question on that thread...
"What is the Arduino web page URL?"
Are you saying LarryD's post is inappropriate because he did not answer your question and did not intend to answer your question?

Actually only because it doesn't relate to the question. We don't have to discuss this at length here, just leave it alone.

My takeaway from this exchange is that you've wasted my time. I would love to do that. However, you deliberately wasting my time is malicious. I have an obligation as a moderator to keep malicious people off this forum.
Are you deliberately wasting my time?

No, I don't want to intentionally and maliciously waste your time.

Excellent. Thank you for letting me know.
I hope you have a good day.

In the end it wasn't deleted, it even became the solution...

On occasion I see you struggle with English.
That you flagged that post as some form of inappropriate was IMHO poor judgement.
That despite a PM explaining to you.

My post was directed to @Ballscrewbob

I had notice he had changed his avatar to the spam circle that I copied from his user profile.

I now see he has again changed it to a man’s head shot, might be him

For this to be raised as a problem is simply foolish.

It might be time to leave the forum.

You still have lots to give and a bloody good sense of humour !

Not going anywhere here either.
Things are just getting interesting.
