Installing of Arduino UNO

Hello Sir/Mam
I am using an Arduino UNO board in windows 8 64 bit OS but when i go to select the port option it is greyed out....... i have tried it by removing the driver signature but it is still not working......

The Arduino should be listed under DEVICE MANAGER / PORTS.
If nothing is there or you only have COM 1 then you will probably require drivers.
These could be any number of types but if yours is a clone Arduino then the CH340 / 341 will probably be the correct ones.

If its the FTDI ones you should probably use THIS LINK

If it is the PL2303 drivers then the LINK HERE should help out.

Otherwise the drivers for real boards are in C:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino\Drivers

I have properly installed the drivers but still the program "blink" is not loading in my board...... what should i do???

  1. What is listed in DEVICE MANAGER ?

  2. Which IDE are you using ?

  3. What boards version are you using ? (Find it in BOARD MANAGER)

  4. Is it an OFFICIAL UNO or a clone ?

  5. Can you post a link to where you bought it if its a clone or a picture of it (decent quality) ?

  6. Can you post a screen shot of PORTS (expanded view) in device manager ?

  7. Have you tried another USB cable ?

  8. Have you tried other USB ports ? (please don't use USB 3.0 ports as they are well documented to have issues with Arduinos)

  9. What do you mean remove "driver signature" ???

I recently experienced 'greyed out ports' after installing the Huawei HiSuite. In device manager, I suddenly had a yellow exclamation mark.

I removed the new software (and had to re-install the Arduino driver) to get it fixed. If you have a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager, some software on your PC might be your issue as well.
