Hello!
I bought an Arduino UNO R3 on aliexpress with its kit. I tried to connect it to my computer (ubuntu), but the terminal says "Serial port not selected". I tried to try the different USB port but the error remains the same.
I tried to look online, and I realized that my computer can't recognize the USB (with lsusb it doesn't appear and the kernel log is not affected).
Any tips? Thanks in advance!
So not a real R3 then.
Does it have a large chip on the back of it?
If so you will have to download the CH340 driver for windows. Search the web for this driver.
You posted this in the wrong section, you posted this in official hardware. As this is a clone this is not an official Arduino product, so I moved to somewhere more appropriate.

That sounds like a bad cable or defective board. If lsusb does not show it as far as Linux is concerned it is not there. Try a known good data cable. You can also check by plugging this into another computer that has a known working IDE.
I have used many of these with several versions of Linux.
