solid state relay

Guys I've ordered that relay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/5V-DC-1-Channel-Low-Level-Trigger-Solid-State-Relay-SSR-Module-Board-for-Arduino-/161633832024

but it want to switch 12v DC ... is any issue with it or it shouldn't do so ?

I've tried to input 3.3V 5V it do anything ...

If I put Arduino's 13pin to DC+ Aruduino's GN to DC- and Ground from 12V Line to CH1 there is a blinking led at Relay board but lamp at SW port still not blinking (((

Solid state relays are not meant for switching DC loads (most aren't, at least). Most of them are based on a triac.

For DC loads, you just need a simple logic level MOSFET instead of the larger and more expensive solid state relays needed to switch AC.

The seller says "Working Voltage: 5V DC (160mA)" so this means you will probably not switch 12V without making smoke? Although the relay shown says it will switch 240VAC as well.

Also agree that you would be better off with a MOSFET switching DC. Probably cheaper too.

That's the power supply requirement for the control, not the limit of the load it can switch.

OK. Then there is no way that an Arduino pin will provide 160mA to the relay.

Looks like Arduino can switch it but it has to be AC ((( .... but I need to switch 12V DC and something near 2-5A how to use MOSFET for it can you give me any complete solution with 3.3V drive it...

Try google "mosfet switch circuit example". Lots to read.

Why don't you try a sugar cube relay and power it with externally?
Like this one
It allows you to switch both AC and DC and trust me this mechanical relay is way cheaper and available in abundance both as boards of 4channel (say) or as individual relays go hook it yourself.

Read this for more.

What voltage are you dealing with? 5V or 3.3V? What board are you using?

I'm using Arduino DUE its use 3.3V as Signal ... so I need to control relay with that 3.3V and switch 12V DC.
And one more think that I need to do is convert 12V logical 1 from car ECU to logical 1 of Arduino due 3.3V how to do that ?
