TP4056 and Lipo battery issue

Hello!
My TP4056 heats up crazy when connected to a 3.7V lipo battery and USB. But it does not heat up when connected to just the USB. What could be the reason? I am using my phone charger directly to the module.
Point to be noted, I mistakenly short circuited my 2 Lipo batteries, one caught on fire, I disposed that one, but the other seemed okay, I cannot see any external damage, this is the battery I am trying to charge.
What should I do now?
Thanks in advance <3

You may not be able to see any external damage, but the charger seems to be indicating that there is damage you cannot see.

I would suggest safely disposing of the second battery, and the charger as well, and starting again with non stressed components. I wouldn't trust a stressed Lipo battery to not suddenly deflagrate and burn down whatever structure it's in.

The TP4056 is a linear charge controller, so heat is normal.
But some Chinese boards are set for the maximum charge current the chip can provide.
That could generate a lot of heat when the battery is flat.
5volt (supply) - 3.5volt (battery) * 1Amp (charge current) = 1.5watt of heat in the chip.
Leo..

You are very lucky. Do as post #2 says and scrap the battery and charger. Consider it cheap since you have no hospital or funeral expenses.
I hope you have a proper LiPO charger like this one https://www.skyrc.com/iMAX_B6mini_Charger?from=nav
That is the smallest. I have some bigger LiPOs for my RC planes, so I use the following https://www.skyrc.com/d200neo?from=nav
And for cylindrical I use https://www.skyrc.com/MC3000_Charger?from=nav
but I may sell it as there is an even newer better model.

Sorry, the newer model is NOT for Lithium, only old NiCad and NiMh

I disposed it. Thank you.
