What is the Red Glue Called that Holds Connectors in Place?

Hi,
Happy New Year...

On some circuit boards with a lot of connectors there will sometimes be a red colored gummy glue to help assist holding the connectors in place. Sometimes you can peel off this goo in one pull, sometimes it is on pretty good it can remove the connector from the PCB (leaving the pins in place). I've always wanted to know what this goo is. It's not hotglue (is it?) ... Does anyone know?

Hard to say for sure.

Many electronic houses use Glyptal.

You can get electronic safe RTV in most any color.

Hi,
Most "NEUTRAL CURE" RTV will work to hold connectors together.

Applied correctly you can pull the solidified result of the connectors without damaging them.
That is use "beads" of the RTV at the edges.

HMA (hot glue) thermoplastic.
