Resistor problems

Yes, will be delivered next week.

Ordered mine from Ebay ($18 US) Will be here sometime between the middle of July and God knows when. Will be a nice surprise since I will have forgotten that I ordered it by then.

Yes, just received something ("Thinary Nano Every") last Friday that I ordered on 13th March from Aliexpress. Came via Kyrgyzstan post with sending date 20th March.

The secret to avoiding the pain of waiting for the slow boat to come in is to just keep ordering things; soon enough you'll be getting a nice package in the mail every so often…

I am sure there actually is. Printing color rings is likely cheaper and easier from a tooling point of view. Resistor manufacturer are getting squeezed by purchasing departments around the electronics world. They cannot afford to spend one cent per 1000 resistors print pretty numbers. If it was cheaper they would.
One advantage of the rings is they can be read no matter the orientation on a PCB.

Pretty much my approach.

Wife not so keen. :worried:

That would have to be a major advantage. :sunglasses:

I got the T7 multi-function tester. It's good but not that accurate (a multimeter is more accurate), but accurate enough to tell the different between two resistors where I'm in doubt if a ring is red or brown.

Does it have a calibrate function?

I'm not sure. How can I find out if it has?

Good question!

Read the user manual

The manual can be downloaded from here.

I reckon that originally was the case, but these days laser etching is a much better technology that messing with 10 different paint colours. After all laser trimming is probably done on the 0.01% resistors that then go on to have bands painted on them!
